KID CUDI SHARES COLORFUL COVER ART FOR NEW ALBUM ‘INSANO’

Kid Cudi has joined forces with KAWS once again for the cover art of his upcoming album, INSANO.

On Thursday (August 17), the Ohio native took to social media to share the visual pitch for his next LP, which is due out on September 15. The imagery features an array of colors under black, zig-zag lines.

The artwork, Cudder said, was put together by the New York-based artist and sculptor who he has worked with before. KAWS has assisted the 39-year-old rapper and singer with visuals on previous projects, though the extent of his involvement on INSANO is not yet clear.

KAWS’ influence on Kid Cudi goes deeper than music. A few months back, the “Mr. Rager” hitmaker revealed his back tattoo for the first time by giving fans a glimpse of a miniature figurine of himself.

The shirtless model depicted Cudi singing into a microphone, but what stood out most was the massive tattoo on its back that he claimed was in fact real.

The design, it turned out, was the same Moon Man cartoon that was used for Cudi’s Man on the Moon trilogy box set that was released last year. Created by KAWS, it was used as the cover art for the six-LP package.

The box set includes all tracks from Cudi’s Man on the Moon series — 2009’s Man on the Moon: The End of Day, 2010’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager and 2020’s Man on the Moon III: The Chosen — along with a large-format companion booklet containing rare photos.

The collector’s item also comes with its own cover art, also created by KAWS, which combines elements from the first two Man on the Moon covers. The black-and-white artwork depicts a KAWS-themed astronaut — complete with X’d out eyes and gloves — slumped on a chair in front of a full moon.

Eminem Praises Nas’ Classic Album “Illmatic”

Eminem is no stranger to some legends of hip-hop. Aside from his obvious association with artists like Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, he’s brushed shoulders with many of the genre’s greats. According to HipHop DX, in a new story done by The New York Times, they gathered stories from 50 different rappers in celebration of the genre’s 50th anniversary. One of those was Eminem who took the opportunity to tell how much one album in particular influenced him. That album is Nas’ classic debut Illmatic.

“I remember The Source gave Illmatic five mics,” Eminem began his interview. While the perfect score did get his attention, he didn’t believe it at first. “I already knew I liked Nas from ‘Live at the Barbeque’ with Main Source, because his verse on that is one of the most classic verses in Hip Hop of all time. But I was, like, ‘Five mics, though? Let me see what this is,” he continues. “And when I put it on, he was going in and outside of the rhyme scheme, internal rhymes. That album had me in a slump, too. I know the album front to back.” It’s not the first time Eminem has praised the project. In the past he’s called the album “essential” and “a classic.”

Eminem’s last new album dropped in 2020 with Music To Be Murdered By. While he hasn’t been quite as prolific in this stage of his career, last month two of his albums celebrated their anniversaries. His absolute classic 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP which spawned some of his most well-known songs like “Stan” and “The Real Slim Shady” turned 23. Fittingly, it’s follow-up from a year later The Eminem Show celebrated its 22nd birthday.

On the other hand, Nas has some new music coming out soon. After a few weeks of leaks and teasers, a sequel to his 2021 album Magic will officially drop later this week. What do you think of Eminem praising Nas’ debut album? Let us know in the comment section below.

Ty Dolla $ign Recruits Chris Brown for “Motion” Remix

The Los Angeles native knows a thing or two about hit records, and it was only right he enlisted Chris Brown for the official remix of “Motion.” This isn’t the first time the two R&B powerhouses have worked together, and previous collaborations include “Surrounded” with Wiz Khalifa and Jeremih, Verse Simmonds on “Only 4 Me,” and “Nothin’ Like Me” with Tyga.

The “Motion” remix arrives perfectly as Ty Dolla $ign announces his fall tour titled “more motion less emotion, which kicks off on Sept. 15th in San Diego. Symba and Leon Thomas are slated to open as support.

Ty Dolla $ign continues to escalate with everything he does, boasting over 10 billion streams, 10 million singles sold, and over 50 RIAA Platinum and Gold certifications. And if you’re lucky enough to catch him at one of his live shows, you already know you’re in for an unforgettable evening of those feel-good R&B vibes we all know, love, and cherish.

ASAP Rocky Speaks On Potential Rihanna Collaboration

In a lengthy interview with Complex, ASAP Rocky opened up about a bunch of different topics. From new album details to directing a Beats by Dre ad, the rapper is thriving both in his musical career and his home life. He and his wife, singer superstar Rihanna, are expecting their second child later this year. Their first child, RZA, was born in May of last year. And while they’ve been collaborating to create an incredible family, the interviewer at Complex wondered if they would ever collaborate musically.

ASAP Rocky’s fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb, includes plenty of next-level performers and production credits. The album has Tyler, the Creator, Hit-Boy, Metro Boomin, Mike Dean, and more artists gracing the tracklist. And his latest single from the upcoming project, “RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n),” hints at a potential Rihanna verse. In the song, he raps, “Collab with my baby mom.” Talking to Complex, ASAP Rocky said, “I’m always down to collab with my partner. She’s a phenomenal creative. Yeah, there’s a lot of things we’re going to collaborate on, from products for children, there’s a lot of things to look forward to.”

While time will tell whether ASAP Rocky and Rihanna will come together on one of Don’t Be Dumb’s songs, they’re busy doing plenty of other things. Both were featured in a Beats by Dre advertisement for the 15th anniversary of the Beats Studio Pro. In the commercial, Rihanna (off-screen) asks her partner ASAP to go get diapers for their child. He throws on his Beats overhead headphones and runs through New York City to get the goods without getting mobbed by fans. This was ASAP’s directorial debut.

The album might also feature Peso Pluma, a rapper with a regional Mexican music background. The pair of hip-hop performers were seen together, which means ASAP Rocky is in the final stages of album mode. There is no release date for the album. But with all of these heavy-hitting collaborations — including a potential Rihanna appearance — this project is looking to be one of the best LPs of 2023.

Nas Unveils “Magic 2” Tracklist

Today, Nas took to Instagram to unveil the tracklist for his upcoming album. The album, Magic 2, is set to arrive tomorrow (July 21). The artist has been teasing the project on Instagram as of late, only revealing the title and release date earlier this week.

Fans previously speculated that Nas’ next offering would be a sequel to 2021’s Magic. A Reddit user known to have the inside scoop on Nas hinted at it last week when fans inquired about the artist’s upcoming album. Since wiping his entire Instagram last week, Nas has shared a few teasers to get fans excited.

Firstly, he shared an ominous black-and-white clip of a thunderstorm. That was followed by an old clip of a man suspended in the air upside down, removing himself from a straightjacket. Clearly, Nas is leaning in to the old-timey magician aesthetic with this new LP. He recently revealed the album cover for Magic 2, which shows two different images of him wearing a pair of headphones melding together. The double-vision effect on the cover is reminiscent of the artwork for Nas’ first Magic album.

It was also just recently confirmed that 50 Cent will appear on the new LP, on the track “Office Hours.” During a recent interview with XXL, Fif reflected on meeting Nas, revealing that he always had a sense that the artist was smarter than his music let on. “[Nas] was ahead of us. What he had, and I was looking at it going, ‘You gotta be careful’ because he was smarter than the music he was releasing… He was smarter than things he was saying on the records,” his collaborator explained.

Tracklist:

  1. Intro
  2. Abracadabra
  3. Office Hours (feat. 50 Cent)
  4. Black Magic
  5. Motion
  6. Bokeem Woodbine
  7. Earvin Magic Johnson
  8. What This All Really Means
  9. Slow It Down
  10. Pistols On Your Album Cover
  11. (Bonus Track) One Mic, One Gun (feat. 21 Savage)

2Pac’s 1996 murder remains unsolved, but renewed efforts into the investigation have uncovered several items that may lead to charges being filed.

As previously reported, Las Vegas police executed a search warrant on a home in Henderson, Nevada on Monday night (July 17) as part of the long-dormant homicide investigation into the rap icon’s death.

It was later revealed that the home belonged to a woman named Paula Clemons, who is married to Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the uncle of ‘Pac’s alleged killer Orlando Anderson.

According to ABC News, police seized various items during their search of the property, including computers, hard drives and magazine articles.

They also retrieved pictures from the 1990s of individuals who might have been connected to people directly or indirectly involved in the shooting, as well as copies of Davis’ 2019 book Compton Street Legend, in which he discusses 2Pac’s murder.

Footage of the search, which was conducted around 10 p.m. on Monday night, shows Las Vegas Metro PD SWAT using a bullhorn while ordering a woman and a man to come out with their hands up (via TMZ).

While police are viewing the search as a “success,” detectives doubt any of the belongings could present a direct link between the target of the investigation and the drive-by shooting that killed 2Pac in Las Vegas in September 1996.

The evidence is now being presented to a Las Vegas grand jury, although a police official said it could take months for the grand jury to decide whether to indict anyone.

Investigators have long believed that the gunman is likely already dead (Anderson was killed during an unrelated gang shooting in 1998), but they’re hoping they can at least determine who was in the car when the fatal shots were fired. That could lead to someone being charged as an accomplice.

2Pac (real name Tupac Shakur) was shot multiple times in a drive-by shooting near the intersection of East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane on September 7, 1996, dying from his injuries in hospital six days later.
2Pac Murder Detective Calls For Keefe D’s Arrest Following Latest Confession

Hours earlier, the rapper and his entourage had beaten up Orlando Anderson in the lobby of the MGM Grand following the Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson boxing fight.

The fight is said to have stemmed from allegations that Anderson, a member of the South Side Compton Crips, had stolen the chain of a Death Row Records affiliate months earlier.

Anderson was identified as a suspect soon after the shooting, but denied any involvement and was never charged over the crime. No arrests have ever been made in the case.

His uncle, Keefe D, has frequently discussed 2Pac’s murder in interviews and documentaries, as well as in his aforementioned book.

In the 2018 BET docuseries Death Row Chronicles, Davis even admitted to being in the car that pulled up alongside 2Pac and Suge Knight that fateful night.

He confirmed that the fatal shots “came from the backseat,” although he declined to reveal the identity of the shooter. He also did not deny that his nephew was the triggerman.
